What is a NGFW?
Next Generation Firewalls are firewalls that utilize features ordinary firewalls are unable to do. The main feature is ‘SSL’ or ‘DPI’ which allows the Firewall to unencrypt traffic, scan it and then re-package the data once scanned and sent it onto it’s destination on the fly as a man-in-the-middle. This is a huge feature as you’ve probably noticed while browsing the web, most websites these days are ‘Secure’ and use HTTPS.
